Removed a Windows file or folder by accident? We’d understand. It’s a lot more common than you’d think. You go to delete a specific file but end up removing something else entirely. But, thankfully, there’s no reason to panic as your files can be restored easily.

In fact, in some cases, you can recover your files even after you’ve emptied the Recycle Bin itself. In this article, we’ll cover both situations. So let’s get started.

How to restore deleted files from Recycle Bin

When you accidentally delete your files, they are automatically moved to the Recycle Bin. So if you’ve not deleted them permanently, you can restore them without much effort.

All you’ve to do is head to the Recycle Bin, locate the deleted files, and right-click on them. From there, select Restore, and your files will be restored instantly.

Now, this is where things get a tad bit complex. When your files or folders have been deleted from the Recycle Bin itself, you clearly won’t be able to restore your files from there—not through manual methods at least.

You’ll instead have to rely on a specialist data recovery software in these cases. Put simply, a data recovery software works by first analyzing your hard disk for any deleted files and checking if they are recoverable. And, in most cases, you can recover them all.

To get started with data recovery, you’ll first have to download data recovery software. There are a host of options out there that you can pick from. In this case, we randomly chose Recoverit data recovery—a free Recycle Bin recovery tool.

To get started, first head to the official website, download the app and then launch it after completing the installation. Then, from the app’s main menu, look for the Recycle Bin icon and click on Scan now.

A quick scan of your Recycle Bin will begin, and within a few seconds, the app will give you the recoverable files on your screen. From there, you can recover specific file or recover all of them — just click on Recover and recovery process will start.

If you couldn’t find your deleted files, you can also go with the Deep Scan feature.
