After Microsoft’s event on October 2, 2018, I was psyched to see the color black being brought back to Surface devices, including the Surface Pro 6 and the Surface Laptop 2. I was not so psyched that neither of the aforementioned devices have USB-C (nor Thunderbolt 3). Currently, I have a Surface Pro (2017) and a Surface Book 2, so I do not have any reason to upgrade to new devices right now.
One thing I can do is to change my background on my Surface devices to make them seem like new Windows 10 devices. If you are looking to change your Windows 10 background, the process is relatively easy. Here’s what you need to do.
- Go to Settings.
- Go to Personalization.
- Go to Background.
From, the Background menu, choose a picture from the stock pictures or any other picture you have on your Windows 10 PC or Surface device. Alternatively, you can right-click anywhere on your desktop background, go to Personalize when the menu pops up and pick your Windows 10 background too. You have three background options in Windows 10; a solid color, pick a picture, or have a picture slideshow. You can also choose how your background fits to your screen. There are several options available; fit, fill, stretch, tile, center, and span.
If you don’t have a Surface, you make your Windows 10 PC mimic a Surface by using one of their signature backgrounds. OnMSFT has mentioned WallpaperHub, created by Microsoft MVP Michael Gillett, a great resource for Windows 10 fans looking for Microsoft-centric backgrounds. There are plenty of Xbox, Windows 10, and Ninja Cat-inspired popular wallpapers, available in a variety of different resolutions to fit your screen. Some backgrounds are even available in 4K!
